The Facebook app and its counterpart Messenger have been met with much criticism from users. Among the comments, you'll find complaints about permission settings and the lack of functionality of each application in relation to the mobile web user interface.
As an alternative to these applications, a recent post on Lifehacker recommends that you check Tinfoil for Facebook. The developer, Daniel Velazco, refers to this application as "a wrapper for the Facebook mobile site," but it is much more useful than it seems. Behind the scenes, Tinfoil creates a sandbox for all Facebook cookies, store them apart from your normal browser cookies. This keeps your information to be disclosed and taken at other sites. Here's how to start:
Step 1: Install
Take a copy with foil for Facebook on Google Play Store. It's free!
Step 2: Set the parameters
Before using the application, you may want to change some settings. Drag the menu on the right side of the screen and tap Preferences. Check the box to open links inside the app sandbox extra of your cookies (which should probably be a default). The rest of the parameters are to you: the ability to go check in the block images, force a specific version of the site to load, or add a proxy.
Step 3: Extra precautions
The position of Lifehacker reminded readers that the sandbox Tinfoil works only in one direction. If you are connected to other services (such as your Google account), Facebook can use the data contained in these cookies to track your habits website. Ultimately, this means you'll need to disconnect other services before opening Tinfoil for Facebook.
Note: Some users may have problems sharing photos with tin foil, but according to the developer, what happens at the end of Facebook as a result of testing features in the waves.
